Massive rains from powerful Hurricane Helene left people stranded, without shelter and awaiting rescue Saturday.

Helene made landfall in Florida's Big Bend region Thursday night as a massive Category 4 hurricane -- the strongest hurricane to make landfall in the Big Bend on record.

Helene left at least 53 people dead and millions without power after the storm swept across the Florida panhandle and through the Southeast.

Those affected in Tampa Bay counties are eligible for the aid, which includes grants for temporary housing and home repairs.

Just days after Hurricane Helene made landfall as a category 4 storm, President Joe Biden approved a major disaster declaration for the state of Florida. Franklin, Jefferson, Lafayette, Madison, Taylor and Wakulla counties are all covered by the declaration.
