The Lakers’ necessity to improve via trade is evident early on this season. Even with a 4-2 start, GM Rob Pelinka is searching for players who fit the Lakers’ identity and other teams who are willing to trade with them.

The last time the Lakers make a big move at the NBA Trade Deadline was during the 2022-23 season. They shipped out Russell Westbrook and Patrick Beverley and brought in D’Angelo Russell, Malik Beasley, Jarred Vanderbilt and Rui Hachimura. The moves powered the Lakers to a Western Conference Finals run.

A pair of teams reportedly showed trade interest in Los Angeles Lakers second-year point guard Jalen Hood-Schifino.
