Fargo police said in a release that officers fatally shot a suicidal person just before 11 a.m. of Wednesday morning. Officers were called to the 6100 block of 61st Avenue South for a medical assist for a suicidal individual at a home.

FARGO (KFGO) – Fargo Police responded to an officer-involved shooting that occurred at approximately 10:50 a.m. in the area of 6100 block of 61st Ave. S. It was initially referred to as a ‘critical incident.”

Chief Dave Zibolski said his officers were engaged in dialogue with a suicidal man when he came out of a home holding a gun. Multiple officers fired their weapons.

Authorities in North Dakota are investigating an officer-involved shooting Wednesday that left one person dead in Fargo. The Fargo Police Department said officers were responding to a suicidal individual at a south Fargo home when the encounter took place.

Fargo police are responding to a "critical incident" in the Deer Creek neighborhood. According to a post to the Fargo Police Department's Facebook page, police are asking people to avoid the area near the 6100 block of 61st Avenue South as they respond.
