Astros second baseman Jose Altuve and Dodgers utilityman Mookie Betts led the field of Silver Slugger honorees, which included seven first-time winners.

MLB’s best hitters were feted Tuesday night as the 2024 Silver Slugger Award winners were announced on MLB Network. The hitting hardware, which is voted on by Major League managers and coaches, is given to the top offensive player at each position in each league.

Altuve’s seven Silver Sluggers are tied with former Chicago Cubs star Ryne Sandberg for the most by a second baseman in MLB history. Altuve sits No. 2 on the all-time postseason home runs list (trailing only Manny Ramirez), and he’s just one of three second basemen this century to win an MVP award (joining Dustin Pedroia and Jeff Kent).
