Just weeks before the November Presidential Election, Oklahoma Republican Governor Kevin Stitt announced the purges of over 453,000 voters Wednesday in a state with the lowest voter turnout in the nation.

In Oklahoma, the minimum wage is currently set at $7.25 per hour, which is the same as the federal minimum wage rate. The state hasn't seen an increase in its minimum wage since 2008. The opportunity to change that won't come until midway through 2026.

A new measure would increase the minimum wage to $12 in 2027, $13.50 in 2028 and $15 in 2029 if it gains a majority vote.

In a little less than two years, voters can choose to raise the minimum wage to $12 an hour in 2027, which will gradually increase each year until 2029, amid mixed opinions from residents and business owners.
