BRUSSELS (Reuters) - The United States wants real and extended pauses in fighting in Gaza so assistance can get to people who need it, but the best way to help people would be to end the war, U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken said on Wednesday.

An Indian-Jewish soldier who belonged to one of the “lost tribes” of Israel has been killed fighting in northern Gaza.

Four Israeli soldiers have been killed in the north of the Gaza Strip, the Israeli military reported on Tuesday. The dead soldiers were non-commissioned officers aged 20 and 21, it said. Israeli media reports said they were killed when an antitank weapon fired by Palestinian forces struck a building where they were sheltering in the Jabalia refugee camp to the north of Gaza City.
