LVMH was reported to have bought a majority stake in Off-White back in July 2021. At the time, Abloh had been designing for the LVMH-owned Louis Vuitton for three years. Abloh, 41, died in November 2021 after a two-year battle with a rare type of cancer.

French luxury group LVMH has sold the streetwear brand Off-White founded by the late designer Virgil Abloh to a brand management company.

Bluestar Alliance owns, manages, and markets a portfolio of consumer brands ranging from Hurley, Scotch & Soda and Bebe, to Elie Tahari, Catherine Malandrino and Nanette Lepore, among others.

When, not long after the designer Virgil Abloh’s unexpected death, New Guards Group, the company that manufactured Off-White, Mr. Abloh’s fashion label, approached Ibrahim Kamara about taking over the house, no one was more surprised than he.

LVMH announces that it has sold Off-White LLC, which owns the Off-White brand, to Bluestar Alliance, LLC, a New York-based brand management company. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed. Founded in 2012 by Virgil Abloh, Off-White is an international luxury streetwear brand.

Weeks after its debut NYFW show, the brand will now sit alongside Bluestar-owned Scotch & Soda, Hurley and Catherine Malandrino.
