After two days of profit booking, India’s domestic equity markets opened on a positive note on October 1, led by gains in IT, energy, and auto stocks. The Sensex rose by 318 points, or 0.4%, to 84,617,

The Nifty IT index gained nearly 1 percent in early trade, following a 0.4 percent overnight rise in the tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite in the US. With IT earnings set to roll out soon, brokerage firm Nuvama said that it expects Q2FY25 to be a stable quarter for IT.

Indian benchmark indices Nifty 50 and Sensex ended the previous trade session lower. Nifty 50 ended at 25,810.85, while Sensex closed at 84,299.78. Overnight, Wall Street indices Dow Jones, S&P 500 and Nasdaq posted their first positive September since 2019.

The trends on Gift Nifty also indicate a flat start for the Indian benchmark index. The Gift Nifty was trading around 26,000 level, a premium of nearly 10 points from the Nifty futures’ previous close.
