Macworld Apple has issued an unusually-timed iOS update to fix a few critical iOS 18 launch bugs. The iOS 18.0.1 version was released on a Thursday afternoon–very unusual for Apple OS releases–and it fixes a few of the more significant bugs with the new iOS 18 and iPadOS 18 release.

Apple has released iOS 18.0.1, iPadOS 18.0.1, watchOS 11.0.1, visionOS 2.0.1, and macOS Sequoia 15.0.1 intending to address iPhone touchscreen issues and other bugs.

A few weeks after iOS 18 release, Apple has finally seeded iOS 18.0.1. With this version, M4 iPad Pro owners can finally update to iPadOS 18.

In response to the iPadOS 18 bug, Apple has advised its technicians to try a force reset on affected iPads before considering device replacement. However, the company has not yet disclosed when a permanent fix will be available. Users who have not updated their M4 iPads are recommended to continue using iPadOS 17 for now.

According to the patch notes, the update addresses the issue of iPhone 16 and 16 Pro touchscreens becoming temporarily unresponsive. iOS 18.0.1 also includes a fix for the camera freezing under very specific circumstances when recording a macro mode video on the ultrawide camera on the iPhone 16 Pro.
