This crash site was actually listed on Roadsideamerica.com so we sought it all while we were passing through Clear Lake. It was a bit difficult to find. Look for the parking area out by the site. It … Full review by ReadRibbet

Wasn't sure what we were going to find, and Siri didn't quite get us all the way there, but the America Pie Parking Lot was nicely visible and then we saw the glasses. The trail was quite clear and … Full review by Emily S
Hello!! Thanks for building the memorial. My band (Time and a Half) is playing at the casino 20 minutes north of the site on February 3rd. We will be making our first ever trip to the crash site on that day and I am looking forward to it!! Somehow being on stage February 3rd, 2017, the 48th anniversary of his passing, 20 minutes drive from the crash site is a bit haunting but it also feels like a strong honor. Buddy Holly's impact on rock n roll is easy to trace and for his life work, I am truly gracious. I am going to perform my best version of "Oh Boy" as the best way I can think of the honor my fallen hero.

The site is accessed via a gravel, country road. There is no designated parking lot for vehicles so though you would be able to park along the roadside with cars, I'm not sure where you would be able to turn around depending on the RV size or where the road would come out if you continued going after parking to walk the field to the actual site. I visited in mid-September and only 2 other couples came and went during the 30 or so minutes that I was there so at that time, it wasn't jammed with other vehicles.
